Get updates on fieldwork and research across African woodlands — plus events and opportunities to get involved. Everyone is welcome, wherever you are based.

    Click “Join our mailing list” above. Your email app opens a new message, already addressed to the list, with SUBSCRIBE seosaw.friends in the body. Leave the subject line empty.

    Add your name and send. Type your first name and surname after “seosaw.friends”, then send. If your email adds an automatic signature, put QUIT on its own line just after your name.

    Confirm. You’ll get a confirmation email back within a minute or two — click the link inside to finish joining. That’s it.

How we use your data & your privacy

What we collect and why. When you subscribe we hold the name and email address you provide, and use them only to send you SEOSAW mailing-list messages (news, fieldwork updates, events). Our lawful basis under UK GDPR is your consent, given when you confirm your subscription. We never sell your details or share them with third parties, and we keep them only for as long as you remain subscribed.

Who holds it. The list is run by the SEOSAW team and hosted on the University of Edinburgh’s Sympa mailing-list service. The University of Edinburgh is the data controller, registered with the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (registration no. Z6426984).

Your rights. You can withdraw consent and unsubscribe at any time — just email sympa@mlist.is.ed.ac.uk with UNSUBSCRIBE seosaw.friends in the message, no reason needed. You also have the right to ask for a copy of your data, to have it corrected or erased, and to complain to the ICO (ico.org.uk).
